The National Land Survey has made a commitment on the openness of research and science. National Land Survey of Finland’s Open Science Policy, published 23 August 2018, specifies the institute's principles and recommendations for open access publications, and open publishing and licensing of research data.

Self-archiving in HELDA

The National Land Survey’s self-archiving is a part of the University of Helsinki’s electronic self-archiving service, HELDA digital archive. The purpose of it is to increase the visibility, use and impact of the National Land Survey's research and professional publications. We offer open access to publications via the National Land Survey's own open publication archive.

Open science and TENK

Research strategy

The Finnish Geospatial Research Institute FGI undertakes scientific research of a high quality, which is internationally known and appreciated within the spatial data field. The new Research Strategy is for the period 2024–2030.

The Research Policy

In the National Land Survey's Research Policy, approved on 27 January 2022, the general focus areas and principles of the National Land Survey's research and its support functions are described for the next three-year period.
